How To Make Money Eating

Want to get paid to eat?
It might sound a little silly to some of you but believe it or not, you can actually make money just from eating.
I do not know a single person that does not like to eat.
Besides those health nuts that only do it so they can enjoy looking at themselves in the mirror.
Not to say it’s a bad thing (because it’s a great thing) but what if you could get paid to eat?
Would you do it?
I would and I know a lot of you would too.
But before you go into things not understanding how things work, let’s go over some of things that comes with the territory.

Can You Really Make Money Eating?

Just to be clear, there are people making money with something we all do on a daily basis.
So don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can not make money eating.
Most are professionals, so before you start thinking that you are going to make a career out of this, do know that you will need to take things seriously.
At least with some of the stuff on this list.
Now if you are looking to make a lot more than a career, I have started this list off with what I believe is the best way to go about things.
I personally do them myself (but in other niches),so I know it works.
Different topic, same concept.
With that out of the way, let’s get right into things.

1. Start a Blog

This is by far the best way for anyone to make money by simply eating.
With opportunities like affiliate marketing and even just advertising, you are apart of a time where lots of money can be made easily.
And yes, blogging just so happens to be one of them.
Unlike 10 years ago when only those that owned physical businesses could get ahead of the rat race.
I run several blogs on different interests and passions I have and they all make me money.
Never thought about running a food blog but that’s why you can do one.

2. Become a YouTuber

This. Is. Big.
If you have not seen any YouTube sensations, you might want to checkout Ryan from Ryan’s Toy Reviews.
He raked in $11 million in a single year and all he did (at least before) was open toys.
Millions of people found this interesting and you can bet that there are billions of people on YouTube watching others do weird things.
Eating is just one of them.
Take eating to the internet, garner a nice following, and you can make tons of money.
And no, I’m not exaggerating.

3. Food Tasting

This is a little more on what you are accustomed to.
As a professional food taster, you are going to do a lot of eating.
I know this is something you are interested in but trust me, these guys eat and they eat a lot.
The job consists of giving your opinion of course but it goes down to things like “is there enough peanuts” kind of deal.
Then you would have to compare it to other related dishes, which will result in your tummy getting full really fast.
This is the ultimate get paid to eat job and this is definitely a real profession.

4. Mystery Shopping

Every restaurant owner wants feedback.
Good or bad, they want to know how everything was.
This job requires you to give your opinion on the obvious, taste of the food but they also want more details.
  • The feel of the place
  • Service
  • Lighting
  • Setup
  • And others
I personally like this job because it makes you feel like you are special.
Because you really are.
You get to tell it like it is and I’m sure the owner will appreciate your honesty.
You can checkout Mysterydining.net or Coyle Hospitality  as they offer some awesome benefits.

5. Food Critic

Not to be confused with a food taster, food critics actually need to give a detailed explanation of their experience.
These details also require you to write, so this is a great job for those of you who are good at it.
Unlike blogging that can have you paid at any given time of the day, food critics get paid per article.
There are food critics banking over $100k/year so you know there is a lot of money to be made here.

6. Fast Food Surveys

This is not paid in cash but it is one thing that not many people are taking advantage of.
Almost every fast food joint you visit will have some kind of survey attached to it.
By answering some simple questions online, you can get rewarded for it.
Free food and buy one get one free type deals that are actually worth doing.
The surveys are really short and usually require you to punch in a code from a recent purchase.
Upon your next visit, you can redeem whatever it is that is mentioned on your receipt.
And if you are interested in doing more surveys or small tasks for cash, you can always checkout Swagbucks.

7. Eating Online

This is probably the weirdest job on this list but one that requires the least amount of skills.
Rather than your opinion on taste and whatnot, you will be recorded so that your reactions can be evaluated.
From the time you get it, to your first bite, and throughout the meal, you will be evaluated on your reactions.
You might have seen some viral videos of people just eating and there is a reason for it.
Muckbang” (eating broadcasts) are very popular in South Korea and are now a thing in the good old U S of A.
I guess some people feel like they’re eating with someone when they watch these videos?
Who knows but the power of videos are insane and you can make money doing anything these days.
My kids watch other gamers play online when they’re not playing, so that should tell you how lives of others is a thing.

8. Get Paid to Eat Apps

There’s an app for that.
This applies to eating and making money and this list would not be complete without at least one app.
With apps like Servy, you can make money for dining or eating out.
By providing feedback on any restaurants on their list, you can get paid through the app.
There are apps that pay you to get rewarded for shopping and now there are apps that pay you to eat.
Things are getting crazy and it would only benefit you to give into the “norm” of today’s world.

9. Baker/Chef

This is further down on my list but not one to count out as regular businesses are still a thing.
The most traditional and can yield lots of cash if you have the skills to whip something up.
Sure you will need a nice capital to start and run your business but you can always start by promoting your products at a local store or something.
I don’t think bakeries will think it’s cool to sell your baked goods there, so you might want to skip that idea.

10. Eating Contests

This is one of my favorites even if it is last on this list.
I mean, who gets paid to eat food?
Not just food but a lot of it!
Hotdog eating contests are among the top but there are other food eating contests that come with a nice paycheck.
Spaghetti?
Sushi?
I’m sure you can find one that you like and you know you can eat a lot of.
These food eating processionals do this for a living and there is still a crazy training routine involved, just like any other sport requires.
But if this is something you think you can handle, then this might just be for you.

Tips

Making money eating is not only a great way to make extra cash but an even better way to start a career.
If you have a serious passion for eating, you should definitely consider doing it for the rest of your life.
I personally recommend you start your own blog as it comes with the least risk but it can also yield a nice return.

Conclusion

Eat.
Now that you know what is out there, you can eat and get paid to do it.
I’m not really into gaining weight as I can barely find the time to a nice run in, so I’m going to pass on this one.
For those of you who are just starting out, I’m sure you can make this work.
Besides that, I hope this list has given you more than enough options.
If you have any questions about anything mentioned above, feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
And if you know of any other ways that you can make money eating, please do share.
Cheers!
